Making home accents work!

Home accents can come from an expensive store, from a long forgotten box in your basement or even your kitchen cabinets. Its all in the way you arrange them and make them look special.

The easiest way to make accents work is by forming groups of objects that go well together, to sort of, keep eachother company... follow a color scheme or a theme and be consistent.

This here is an arrangement with ceramics by Pottery Barn, notice the earthy, neutral colors, that go so well with the green. Feels like home...

In this image, the vase with tray make one very strong design statement, chose you vases carefully I say, they add a whole lot of style to a space!

Gorgeous home office arrangement... extremely creative, interactive and stylish. Using beautiful ceramic containers to hold flowers, stamps, clips and other office essencials.... you can re-group and move around everyday!... so pretty.




Like I mentioned before, themes are often a good idea... Nature, music, literature, kids and family... and of course, Travel. See how well this works together? It works because the items in front of the framed map are simple, transparent and light. And it is easy to appreciate the whole picture and take it all in. Personally, I love this, if I had a mantel I'd definitely go for this theme!

Go to your basement or garage and look carefully, I am sure you have a ton of items that, with a little love, you can turn into fabulous accents for your home! See here for example, theres this colorful and clever display of old frames of all shapes sizes that really bring life to this room... There are some splashes of color here and there, but note how aqua is consistent and unifies the space, that's how this place looks so together.

Grouping several objects of the same color is always right, do not over do it though, see how the white background and the clean lines keep things simple.... and most of the items are of the same shade of yellow... this is easier than easy, try it!

Vintage Monday... Top Hat!

Hey beauties!!! did you enjoy your weekend??? I did.... lovely summer here still, the weather is fabulously warm and the spirits high :)

It's vintage monday!!! yayyy!!! I do not know what it is... can't put my finger on it, but vintage images tend to make me soooo happy and inspired.... not to mention, they also always make me want to dress up!

Mixing it up!

I am soooo looking forward to this weekend folks. How about you?

I started Pilates classes ten days ago after more than 3 years of no excersise at all and, I tell you... I feel happier than ever with this decision. I was always very athletic and I still can't believe how I ever allowed myself to sit on my butt for so long!!! Anyway, I am proud of being on the right track again and wanted to share it :)

Today I have a few examples on how to mix patterns, I am a huge fan of pattern mix because I believe that, done right, it takes ANY room from blah.... to chic!

Black and white is a hot, HOT trend these days.... but you also need to throw some color accents, magenta, yellow or teal are fantastic.



Animal print is also fabulous but you need to use it wisely and only in certain objects.... in other words, less is more ;)

Chose a fabulous wallpaper to make a strong statement, and look for strong pieces of furniture and accesories, that don't get lost in (eaten by) the wallpaper's desing... see the mirror, and the dresser, and the chair? they are all objects with a ton of personality of their own. The splash of color is extremely important, imagine the image without the pink flowers!

This is Anna Sui's home, and of course... one mighty chic example of pattern use. A bit dark for me but perfect next to the white pillars and bookcases. Trés Chic!

Beautiful friends.... girls and boys... you all know my passion is to write about home décor, design, designers and all the lovely colors and trends out there... but you know, every now and then I feel inspired to write about 'other' beautiful things.

I was sailing the web... and I came across something truly beautiful... a powerful attempt by some photographers and actresses, to stand up against Photoshop Airbrushing. I think this is totally fab! have you seen what they do? how they change pretty much everything about a person to make them look 'perfect'??? and there goes the young girl's self esteem!...

Look at Faith Hill in this picture, she is gorgeous as it is! and the airbrushing makes her look plastic :( Lets celebrate natural beauty, inner beauty, beauty that comes from within and reflects on the outside, through someone eyes and smile....

Teal + Purple = HOT Fall Trend!

Hi friends! I am soooo excited! here are two of my favorite colors, Teal and Royal purple, and wanna hear the best part? They are totally IN for this Fall!!! in both fashion and home décor.

Royal Purple is having a fashion moment, together with lavenders and lilacs in satins and suedes. From rich hues of grape, plum, aubergine and eggplant to brighter violets, amethysts and pinkish mauves.

Purple in Chinese culture is a lucky color, the color of wealth and prosperity in Feng Shui. It is unconventional and enigmatic, elegant and the symbolic color of royalty. It sends messages of seductiveness and style, especially when found on rich fabrics such as velvets and satins.

I guess I am inspired this week.... first Lucyna, now Selina with even more gorgeousness! can you believe??? Selina Lake is an Interior Stylist that works with major publications and some of the best interior photographers. She creates happy places, spaces that make you feel hopefull, optimistic and serene at the same time. I love her work!

Interior Stylist Lucyna Moodie - inspiration all over...

EyE CaNdY - EyE cAndY - EYe CanDY!!!

Lucyna Moodie is an Interior stylist and designer from the UK (now, I have aaaalways been intrigued by this particular job which I find so amazing and I bet its probably one of the best jobs to have!!!

Well, Lucyna started with the BBC as a runner... then she moved from assistant stylist to stylist then art director on a number of arts and leisure programmes... she then worked on BBC books and a BBC publishing for BBC Good Homes Magazine as contributing stylist.

Since 2000, she has been a freelance and also started as an interior designer. I just dare you to look at these photos and not feel the inspiration flowing through! she is awesome!

Dark + Light = One Fab Kitchen!

Hi dear all!!! I hope you are having a wonderful, happy week!

I am a big fan of the effect of contrast, I think it turns any boring space into a very stylish one... Today I wanted to post about contrasts in the kitchen, the fabulous use of dark and light. I think all of these are amazing, the dark items really stand out and give the place so much personality! don't you think?
