The dining table of my dreams {wink}

Hello lovely friends!!! I am soooo rested and happy after a long weekend and some real quality time with the loved ones and I am totally inspired this week.

First off, I'd like to share with you my latest obsession. You know, the perfect Christmas present for yours truly {more wink}, AKA:

For easy organizing...

If you, like me, feel like a cluttered house to start the year deserves a big fat NO.. then you'll appreciate a little inspiration in that department. Here is a fabulous example on how to organize two different areas of your home.

I will begin with the Laundry Room, because in my case, its the one that need the most work and sometimes I feel a bit frustrated. This is right up my alley..... Please note the labeled boxes on the top shelf and the gorgeous b&w photograph. This laundry room sings to me and I hope mine can look like this pretty soon!

In the case of the Dining room, if you have any kind of mess going on, you might want to consider a visit to the flea-market, because a cabinet like this one will be perfect for your needs. This works because it has a covered area at the bottom where you can place all those things that you don't want to be showing. And display all the pretty china above. Seriously... what a clever solution!

On the oposite wall, puh-lease!!! take a look at that perfectly styled buffet that really is the perfect storage solution. Perfect example that there is NO need to sacrify the style in order to have a functional dining room.

Annnd! I know this has nothing to do with the storage and organizing but please just look at that table!!! This place is a dream, really... the room is teeny, and yet, everything seems to just fit right in!

Just the facts Ma'am!: Table Setting

Ok Sweets! in case any of you need to know... now that the Holidays are here.... Here is how a formal table setting should be done (I did'nt have a very clear picture myself, beyond the forks position!).

You always begin eating using your silver from the outside, that's why the soup spoon and salad fork are first, then dinner fork, then dessert fork and on the other side, tea spoon and knife. Napkin to the left or on the Service plate and butter plate and spreader to the left.

Water goblet is larger than the others and goes first, then the red wine (medium) glass and next the white wine (small) glass.

Now, the good part: Enjoy your delicious meal!!

The Perfect Breakfast Nook

I have a small dining room and a kitchen that's basically part of the same room, its all together, and I do like it that way...

But oh god, I so love breakfast nooks! and I will probably never have one unless I make some drastic changes to the structure of the house.... still, I love to dream about a lovely, cozy breakfast nook, with windows and loads of light and beautiful colors, fresh flowers on the table.... (sigh...)

Artistic Dining...

AH! The dining room... in my opinion, it deserves much more attention that it often gets, it deserves to have a personality of its own and here are some examples on how to achieve this.

While it is ok to unify the spaces by following a certain pattern from the kitchen through the living room, don't be afraid to add some funky or special elements to your dining room to turn it into a more dramatic, interesting area, something that will keep your guests talking about it long after your dinner party!

Wall paper was used along with some shelving and accents in this fabulous yet sweet dining room to create an amazing focal point. Imagine this place without that element, it'd be downright boring. Note also that wood tends to add a 'Home' feel very few people can resist.

These beautiful chairs provide the interesting element to this dining room connected to the kitchen, it is important that in these cases, you use the same color palette for both areas.

The Gray area... part II

Good morning! hope you are all having a fantastic weekend... Lately, I have been crazy about gray, a couple of months ago, I posted The Gray Area, with some pretty clear examples of how warm gray can be. Today, I have the second part of that post, with some more gray inspiration. This color is so chic, elegant and calm... can't get enough of it!

If you are renting and you aren't allowed to paint your walls, like in the image below, use furniture, picture frames and pillows to add color, the secret is to keep the color palette very simple and fresh.
