Becco Al Mare

Well helloooooooooooooooo!!, I am in Acapulco, "working" of course!.... but there's been more partying and socializing and fine dining than anything else really ;) On friday we stayed out at the ever-famous Baby O until dawn {I was with my bosses so there is NO way I will get in trouble for that! isnt that sweet?}

Anyway luvs, here's where I went to dinner last night, it's THE HOT spot in Acapulco right now and it definitely is a place to remember.

The Ultra-Trendy Becco al Mare. Guys, it's I-N-S-A-N-I-T-Y. The New York Times published an article about it and these pictures and words below are from the article which can be found HERE.

"Perched high above the tourism mayhem, a stark wood-and-glass pavilion offered an escape hatch from the city’s clichés. Inside, a sparkling white restaurant opened up like a giant flashbulb onto the glittering coastline beyond, with house music throbbing to the clinking of wineglasses and the clattering of stilettos on polished concrete floors.

A crowd of young Mexicans in open-collar Gucci shirts and fluttering Pucci dresses circulated about, perhaps hoping to catch a glimpse of the actress Tara Reid, the singer Luis Miguel and the other boldfaced names who had been spotted there recently.

“It’s fantastic, no?” said Angelo Pavia, the owner of the restaurant Becco al Mare, marveling at his own creation as he swooped his hand across the soaring space for emphasis.

Acapulco is having its second act, reappearing from the fanny pack-strewn beaches to recapture its faded Hollywood glory. Between the new luxury condominiums rising in Diamond Point and the vintage modernist villas in Las Brisas, a necklace of sleek new restaurants, fashionable nightclubs and designer hotels is drawing the glitterati back to the city’s azure shores. Even legendary resorts are getting a makeover, like old movie stars staging a comeback.

One thing that remains unchanged, however, is Acapulco’s natural beauty. Hugging the calm, crystal-blue waters of Acapulco Bay, the city cascades from the Sierra Madre, forming a yawning, near-perfect crescent ringed by rocky cliffs, palm-feathered slopes and miles of powdery golden sand. And it was this striking topography, along with the dependably flawless weather, that once made Acapulco an unrivaled playground for the 20th-century beau monde.

At its peak, Acapulco was a haunt of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, where Elizabeth Taylor married Mike Todd (the third of her eight weddings), and John and Jacqueline Kennedy headed for their honeymoon (as did a young Bill and Hillary Clinton). Howard Hughes spent his last days at the Acapulco Princess hotel. Lana Turner had a place overlooking the water, as did John Wayne. “Fun in Acapulco” was not just a 1963 film starring a dashing Elvis Presley but an international shorthand for glamour.

Before long, the Hollywood elite was flocking to its sun-dappled shoreline, with countless playboys, gold-diggers and titled Europeans in tow. They would cavort at hotels like Los Flamingos, owned by a posse that included John Wayne and Johnny Weissmuller (who played Tarzan in movies), and at glitzy fleshpots like the former La Perla and Tequila à Go-Go, where a Swiss night-life impresario named Teddy Stauffer reigned as “Mr. Acapulco.”

“The world’s first discos were in Acapulco,” said Esteban Matiz, a fashion designer and lifelong Acapulqueño, who remembers many of them well. Indeed, in 1967, a Life magazine cover article proclaimed Acapulco the “Top Jet Resort” and “one of the most sophisticated and pace-setting” spots in the world. "

Agreed!!!!!

today's brittish place ❤

Got a couple millions to spare? {and you wanna move to London??}

Ehem...!

Here's your most perfect new place, the Aldebert Terrace, pretty stunning if you ask me! this place intrigues me because it's chic yet simple and relaxed. The energy seems to flow just fine and the outdoor areas are to die for.

I say, Splashes of retro and seriously cute Pink and yellow accents is exactly what a girl needs.

Old Hollywood Style

Happy Monday girls and boys!

You know... With the Oscars and all, I felt like looking for some Classic Hollywood inspired interiors... and found some pretty glamourous examples.

I am crazy about the oval mirror in the first image, pretty much every single chair in this little gallery and the metallic elements. They all make me want to dress up and have a good ole cocktail (hollywood style of course!)...

Do you like this style at all?

I think....

This wall color is to die...

These curtains and the rug are sublime...

Does this look a bit like the booths in that club in ScarFace?
(does NOT get any more Hollywood than that!)

Black wall.... glam headboard... chandelier... faux-fur pillows...

Lisa Fine Textiles

Flipping through the fabulous web pages of my beloved Lonny, I came across an article about Lisa Fine, a textile artist who's work I am really crushing hard on right now. Here are some pictures of her Paris home that will give you an idea of how fabulous she is.

Go to Lonny for more!

Fine is inspired by India's embroidery, silks, and lush colors -- pink with orange, a few hits of pistachio-green -- as well as Turkish and Moroccan styles

Celebrity Homes: Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger is obviously a fashion icon, and most of the time these people have great homes. Today I have a few snapshots of his Connecticut home.

I adore that dining place in the wine cellar. Uh, Tommy? I will gladly agree to attending your next dinner party! OH! and Please check out the last image, it's some decorating by Tommy himself very cleverly using Louis Vuitton trunks.

Enjoy!

A Fab New York City Modern Apartment

Designed by Richard Mishaan, and photographed by William Waldron for Elle Decor, I really couldnt resist posting this today, this New York apartment is like a breath of fresh air, so chic and cool. Although I normally enjoy a more relaxed, simple style... I can certainly appreciate a modern approach, specially when in NYC and featuring so much fabulous color!!!

The place belongs to Julie Anne Quay, a NY based artist, and it’s no surprise then that edge and elegance collide in this apartment where she lives with her family. Since the place boasts high ceilings, capacious rooms, and windows galore, the challenge was to bring intimacy to the vast interiors.

And look how it was done. I am seriously loving this, aren't you too?

Go to Elle Decor's link (above) to check out some more pics and to read a bit about the design process.

SATC Interiors

Well, like every other girl in this planet, I too am a huge fan of Sex and the City. But everytime I watched the show, I couldnt help but notice the fabulous interiors, the faaaabulous style and décor.... I guess it's the least we would expect from such glamourous ladies!!! I know, I know... many people have already blogged about this, but I still really, really wanted to do this.
Ok, first up is Samantha Jones's loft. Modern and Sexy, where of course the most important thing is the bed.... notice the colors in the kitchen, and the art... and the huge mirror!

Now, let us move on to the apartment of Miranda Hobbs, she is a partner in a prestigious NY Law firm, and of course, her apartment needs to be classy, neutral, elegant, and a bit masculine.... her dining table is where she studies her cases so there can't be anything too distracting. I love the lighting in the living room, the dark wood and the black frames, and of course the gorgeous mirror placed over the mantel!

I guess my favorite has got to be Charlotte York's stunning Park Avenue apartment. Who wouldnt love it right??? The lovely neutrals, the fine ceramics, the impeccable taste, the fresh flowers, the dreamy wallpaper! got one word: LOVELY.

And last, but definitely NOT least! our fave New York gal, Carrie Bradshaw's place... this is soooooo the place for a writer, and a chic writer that is, with ample shelving for all the books and files, lovely vintage posters and photographs... not to mention some fabulous pieces of furniture, each with a ton of personality. And her closet... (sigh...) one of the most famous closets ever... gotta have room for all those pairs of shoes don't you think???
