South Africa dreamin....

Oh yeah!!! I am not sure if it's the world cup, the exotic environment, the interesting history, or the novel I just read for the fifth time... {Master of the Game... and yes, I am crazy like that} about an empire built from scratch at the diamond fields in South Africa by a hopeful boy from Europe. Anyway, I am obsessed with that part of the world.

South Africa seems like THE place to be and if I'd go there....

First: I'd hit OKHA. The stunning selection of Okha's interior projects and products have such focus and integrity that trascend trends to create graceful, timeless interiors. I simply adore these items below. Check out the site and be ready to drool my friends!

Next, I'd pay a visit to the talented people at Farenheit Desing...

And I'd probably wouldnt mind staying at African Dreams Bed and Breakfast in East London, South Africa.

What about you? where do you really wanna go???

If you are having a lovely weather in your area {like I am} you probably feel like spending your days outside... I said, enough of posting decor ideas for porches and patios {at least for today!} and let's have a little something much more yummy. A Picnic snack idea!

Open Face Ratatouille Sandwiches

Ingredients
  • 1 small eggplant, cut in 1-inch pieces
  • 1 small zucchini or yellow summer squash, cut into 3/4-inch slices
  • 1 medium red sweet pepper, cut in strips
  • 1/2 of a small red onion, cut in 1/2-inch wedges
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. herbes de Provence or dried thyme, crushed
  • 2 medium plum tomatoes, each cut lengthwise in 6 wedges
  • 8 small or 4 large 1/2-inch slices whole wheat or white French bread, toasted (about 8 oz. total)
  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • Fresh thyme sprigs (optional)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat a large shallow roasting pan with nonstick cooking spray. Add eggplant, zucchini, sweet pepper, and onion to prepared pan. Drizzle olive oil; sprinkle herbes de Provence, 1/8 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper. Toss to coat. Roast vegetables 30 minutes, tossing once. Add tomatoes to roasting pan. Roast 15 to 20 minutes more or until vegetables are tender and some surface areas are lightly browned.

2. Meanwhile, rub toasted bread with cut sides of the garlic clove. Place two small slices or one large slice of the bread on each of four serving plates. Sprinkle balsamic vinegar over vegetables; toss gently to coat. Spoon warm vegetables on bread. If desired, garnish with fresh thyme sprigs. Makes 4 servings.

There!

Once upon a time....

I had a boyfriend... we were reading/going through the pages of Vogue together. There was a picture of Elizabeth Hurley on the red carpet. Looking the way they ALL look in the read carpet. My boyfriend started saying what a goddess she is.

I told him, she is absolutely beautiful. However, they do spend hours and hours being pampered and prettied up by the best stylists and makeup artists in the world, with the best products, in the best Spa, etc. I said, with that kind of treatment anyone can look that good. I know I can!.

Oh boy, did he laugh at me.... but you see, here's the thing... I am RIGHT!
