Hurry up and click!

Visit the Errant Aesthete today for a truly delightful read... a Delicious post on the wonderful Lucian Freud.

“Best known for his fierce depiction of the flesh, he seems to strip his nudes physically and psychically, presenting them in awkward poses and an unforgiving light. Sometimes, they sprawl about with animals or are enormously fat. Those who dislike Freud’s art consider his oeuvre the meat locker of a misogynist. They are wrong. The nudes have an unpeeled power that’s like nothing else in art. But there is indeed something harsh about the contract he establishes in such pictures between artist and subject. Freud seems to have all the power—and asserts it. His compositions are elegant, his subjects ungainly. His brush dances, their bodies lie supine. His surface glows, their flesh decays. His eye is spirited, theirs appears defeated. He lords it over the nudes.”

Hey darlings! I know am crazy about kitchens, there are so many posts about kitchens, back-splash, breakfast nooks etc in this blog that I almost feel guilty for this post today. But isn't the kitchen THE heart of the house after all? where the family spends the most time together?

This post is even more special because its about Eat-In kitchens, that area of the house where most of us will eat, do home-work, have coffee with the girlfriends, etc... I simply adore these images below. I hope they inspire you =D

Lisa Fine Textiles

Flipping through the fabulous web pages of my beloved Lonny, I came across an article about Lisa Fine, a textile artist who's work I am really crushing hard on right now. Here are some pictures of her Paris home that will give you an idea of how fabulous she is.

Go to Lonny for more!

Fine is inspired by India's embroidery, silks, and lush colors -- pink with orange, a few hits of pistachio-green -- as well as Turkish and Moroccan styles

For easy organizing...

If you, like me, feel like a cluttered house to start the year deserves a big fat NO.. then you'll appreciate a little inspiration in that department. Here is a fabulous example on how to organize two different areas of your home.

I will begin with the Laundry Room, because in my case, its the one that need the most work and sometimes I feel a bit frustrated. This is right up my alley..... Please note the labeled boxes on the top shelf and the gorgeous b&w photograph. This laundry room sings to me and I hope mine can look like this pretty soon!

In the case of the Dining room, if you have any kind of mess going on, you might want to consider a visit to the flea-market, because a cabinet like this one will be perfect for your needs. This works because it has a covered area at the bottom where you can place all those things that you don't want to be showing. And display all the pretty china above. Seriously... what a clever solution!

On the oposite wall, puh-lease!!! take a look at that perfectly styled buffet that really is the perfect storage solution. Perfect example that there is NO need to sacrify the style in order to have a functional dining room.

Annnd! I know this has nothing to do with the storage and organizing but please just look at that table!!! This place is a dream, really... the room is teeny, and yet, everything seems to just fit right in!

Kitchen Dream...

Hunnies!!! a real treat today =D

Here are two fabulous shots of Southern Living's Kitchen of the Year. It's so gorgeous I die... I am loving the wood color in the state-of-the-art cabinets and how it goes so perfectly with the stainless steel appliances.

The other important elements that make it work for ME are:

1) white counter tops that really, really stand out against the cabinets
2) The grey tile that makes it all flow
3) amazing lighting
4) colorful pottery & plants that add personality

Do you love it too!!???

Start Fresh... love yourself.

Oh my lovely readers... I will not dwell, but it truly is wonderful to step into the new year by your side... so Thank YOU.

And now, for all of you who are thinking about starting fresh and actually make this year a very special one in your life, I am writing this little piece with love.

You know, it is never too late to achieve good health. The human body has an incredible capacity to rejuvenate itself! it is extremely noble. The first step on the road to good health is to decide that you want to be healthy. If you are young, remember “The earlier the better”. If you are old, remind yourself “Better late than never”. Keeping ourself healthy emotionally, physically, and spiritually will help you build develop a happy, productive life. Healthy people come in all different body shapes and sizes.

Learn
to appreciate your body for the perfect machine that it is, rather than what it looks like. Most importantly, be active and eat well to improve your health and wellbeing, and you will soon find that your spirit enlightens too.

I have practiced Yoga for quite some time now and I have learned that the best way to go is to accept what your body can do, be in it as fully as possible and breathe. I invite you to try and [down dog] with me and you will see the wonderful results, not only in your body but your entire life.

Eat colorful, organic goods to protect your heart, it is not about starting a diet or anything, just feeding our body what is right. I think its delish!

Stay hidrated... put down the soda can, and you will soon see how your skin pretties up!

Sleep well, let your body recover... give it a chance to do whatever it needs to do to feel right... you know, they don't call it 'beauty sleep' for nothing!

Stretch out each morning! Smile, breathe, enjoy the outdoors for at least 5 minutes a day, your lungs will thank you!

I obviously am no expert, or have the credentials to tell you what to eat or not to eat, but my own life has changed so much by starting to love my body like this, and I feel so passionate about this, that I wanted to share what has worked for me. It is the kind of stuff we always hear, but never do.

Do you have any resolutions for this year?

Love...

Make it new!!!

The New Year is almost here!! and of course we are all OH SO excited about the parties, the resolutions, the new life or however we want to look at it. But certainly it represents new beginnings....

I always do something different at the house, and make sure I clean every room and try and start the year in the best possible way.

Ok, when it comes to renovating a piece of furniture... I am a big fan. Re-using and Re-cycling is totally IN (and as a fellow blogger says: IT's RIGHT!).... so naturally, I found these pictures and died!... PERFECTION! Look at the before picture... and how OLD and tired everything looks! in the after, its all so modern and chic!

Are you going to change anything in your house to start the year fresh???
