Something Rad: The United Shapes

How flippin' cool is this? I dig it.

The United Shapes of America is brought to you by XKCD, which describes itself as a "webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language," it's a "map of things states are shaped like."

The illustration is available in high-resolution (and as a poster!) at XKCD.com

Refurbished Flat in Barcelona

This is one of the most glorious refurbished spaces I've ever seen. You know, old buildings have a certain charm to it, which is why many people like buying Old rather than new... fixer-uppers sure are attractive to some of us, but remodeling can be really expensive.

The house features a delicious blend of contemporary and traditional- swoon.
Check it out!

Via Decoist,

Oh the floors!!! the tall ceilings!!

The windows and views!!!

Question:
Would you rather have a brand new house {white canvas?} or a Fixer Upper???

Love a Window Seat

Nothing cooler than being inside but feeling you're outside. Right, I make no sense.

What I mean is, I LOVE a space that brings the outdoors in!!! don't you? Here is this amazing small modern home outfitted with the coolest window seat. Seriously.

Carter Williamson Architects created this place, with interiors that seem to flow seamlessly right into the great outdoors. This Sydney, Australia house design features a massive sliding glass wall that lets natural light flood the space.

The dining table offers an always pleasant view, and across the dining nook, the kitchen features clean, contemporary finishes. This space is a combination of living/dining/cooking area that sure invites you kick back.

A New York style Loft

I love anything New York and I love Lofts. Well, this place is BOTH but get this: it's in Vienna, Austria and it has a design inspired by the classical New York lofts.

Owned by a family of four, you will notice that the space is not divided into rooms but rather into some sort of boxes. There are three such volumes and they each fulfill a different function. The loft covers a total area of 260 square meters and inside there are separate zones with different levels of privacy

One of the volumes includes the children’s rooms. These spaces are acoustically separated by the rest of the loft with floor-to-ceiling acoustic glass elements {ok. this is BRILLIANT}.

The parent’s bedroom is another area and it’s separated from the living area with large sliding doors. These two volumes are the privacy spaces of the loft.

It’s visible that the loft still features some of the industrial character of the building but it has been personalized with individual furniture pieces and a simple but very stylish interior design.

One word: OBSESSED.

Rocking Tiles by Lenny! swoon....

The Goccia three dimensional tiles by Lea Ceramiche are actually born out of a collaboration with Kravitz Design - right. As in Lenny Kravitz.

In 2003 Kravitz put together a creative team and set up a design studio. Goccia wall tiles is one of their newest ventures and IT ROCKS! - This stuff is inspired by how light interacts with water ("Goccia" means "drop" in Italian).

Available strictly in black or white and in a glossy or matte finish. Learn more at Lea Ceramiche.

I just think Kravitz is one hot piece of A and prettty much anything he does will look HOT. Just sayin'.

Minimalist Find: The B Flat

Hey ya'll... got a new feature here at my lil ole blog... Minimalist Find.

While I dont feel very attracted to minimalist spaces, I do realize some pieces are just genius. And quite frankly, these designers are what keep the ball rolling.

Today, let's talk about B Flat. Gorgeous design I had not seen before, found over at Homedit, that was designed by Andreas Berlin back in 2005. It has a very clean and transparent design resembling a puzzle where every piece fits perfectly. It’s also the lowest sofa in the Leolux collection.

The B flat sofa is a great example of how style and function can coexist without having to sacrifice anything.

Want more of this???
I recommend you check out the impressive collection of armchairs, on the Leolux Page.

btw: And in case you're wondering.... This is NOT a sponsored post. I really, truly LOVED this sofa.

Oh yeah, its time for some random rooms, and not just 'any' rooms... but the to-die-for kind.

Here are my picks ;)

I am very much inspired by this blue bedroom. I kinda wanna try that now. U like?

Even the dog agrees that this kitchen is rad.

Highly Coveted... (by moi)

These three items are at the moment my obsession. Some obsessions go away quickly, but some last quite a while... I have actually been obsessed with chalkboard paint for months now, I'd say we have a lil affair going on...
(Isnt there a show on NatGeo about people that love objects?) ok, enough about me...

One thing is for realz. It would be totally inappropriate, selfish and downright rude if I didnt share these items that are shining so bright in my eyes.

I want one SO BAD for my casa!!!

#2 The self-shelf ....... have you seen anything cooler in your LIFE??!?!
Didnt think so.
I'd feel I live in Mrs Weasley's house (in harry potter, duh!!).

Bresnahan’s lids fit on top of your most basic tin can , to create design solutions to basic household needs without causing more waste. Gotta love him!!!!!!!

Las Alcobas {a REAL treat today}

Hi lovelies!!! how was the weekend???

Last month while in Mexico City, I visited a friend of mine who is General Manager at Las Alcobas, a Boutique Hotel. Now, while I knew this place would be fabulous and ULTRA chic since it is on Masaryk Street {the equivalent to NYC's 5th Ave with Gucci, Prada, Cartier, Donna Karan, Chanel, and a lot more fabulousness going on there} and Masaryk Street is in the super-duper-trendy Polanco neihborhood, I had no idea just how stunning the hotel would be.

Ok. Enough Yapping. My friend Michael gave me a tour and here's the place where YOU MUST stay when you go to the City of Mexico :)

I immediately fell in love with the use of colors, textures and light. It is simply to DIE for. There was very detailed work on the wood and mirrors and the location could NOT be any better. I want to go there (on vacation - not work like always) and enjoy a few days of that amazing city I love. But more than anything I'd like to sleep on those beds, they kept calling my name while I was touring the hotel.

See this genius work on the wall? I cannot think of another word to describe it. GENIUS.

It's all insanely good. Really.

In case you're wondering WHO-THE-EFF designed this incredible aesthetic marvel, the answer is power duo Yabu Pushelberg (a post on them two creative geniuses coming soon)
