A tribute to the classics: The Swan Chair

This time.... One of my favorite chairs of all times: The Swan by Arne Jacobsen. He designed this beauty in 1958 for the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. It's manufactered by Republic of Fritz Hansen.

Along with the swan Jacobsen also developed the
Egg chair which is equaly amazing... and further furniture which mostly did not get into mass production, like the Drop. The couch of the swan is still in production and i do love it too, its gorge.

The guy surely was a Genius. As a designer, Jacobsen made prototypes for furniture, textiles, wallpaper, silverware etc. Among his most famous designs are The Ant™, Series 7™, The Egg™ and The Swan™ , and the tableware Cylinda-Line

How about this stunning red chair.... a whole new level of awesomeness if you ask me!

They are most certainly timeless beauties and combine modernist ideals with a most inspiring Nordic love of naturalism.

I love this one and the Barcelona Chair.

And you????

Way obsessed with.... the Acapulco chair!

Can you blame me??? it's design, functionality and folk art and many more things all in one insanely fab piece of furniture... and it's mexican like yours truly!!!

Loves it!

Mexico's stylish and contemporary chair named after the famous pacific resort of Acapulco. First produced back in the 1950's...

Based on time-honored Mayan hammock weaving technology this lounger chair unifies tradition with innovation... {instant siesta!}

The Acapulco is all kinds of cool, its weave perfectly cradles the body within its clean lines without suffocating and offers a character of casual sophistication to every space.

The Acapulco chair is a hit in Mexico from rural and sleepy beach towns throughout the nation to the most modern and trendy streets in the big cities – including the most exclusive and fashionable neighborhoods.

Suitable for exteriors and interiors from the bohemian loft or the ultra modern home to boutique hotels, resorts, office spaces, and cottage country retreats.

The frame is made of hardened steel and can be ordered in powder-coated black or chrome. A rocking chair version of the Acapulco, the “Acapulco Rocker” and a miniature version are now available.

Do you love it!!??????

A tribute to the classics: The Barcelona Chair

My favorite chair of all times could be the Swan. And I will definitely pay tribute to that beauty very soon. But if I had to pick another favorite it would {no doubt} be the Knoll Barcelona Chair.

Created by genius Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the 1929 Barcelona Exposition... "the Barcelona chair features the pure compositional structure that now epitomizes Modern architecture"

{no kidding!}

The child's Barcelona chair and stool are 85% scale of the original!

Exclusive manufacturing and sales rights accorded to Knoll by the designer in 1953 AND
KnollStudio logo and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's signature stamped into the frame of each piece.

Interested???

The Stainless steel Beauty will set you back about $6907
While the Child Chair another $3840

YIKES! But totally worth it {if you ask me}

Why you asked? Because, this chair holds the Museum of Modern Art 1977 Award. That's why.

Check out Knoll you guys!!!

So pretty a place....

I so love these little pretty spaces and the feelings they bring out. It is very important for each room in the house to have a little something to look at and feel happy.
***
This here is a perfect setting in a girl's room, a very useful shelf where you can display some lovely, girly items and then the rack below for some more loveliness to hang. I think the combination of items here is simply divine!

This old table was turned into the most beautiful little desk and a gorgeous working area. The color palette was kept simple and romantic with pastels and the lovely vintage items give it a 'home sweet home' feel.

I am at loss for words when I look at this image, everything about it makes me happy. It is femenine, sweet and inviting. The bold colors make it fresh and the fact that this is an old chair out of a garage sale that has been renovated makes it interesting and full of personality. And what about the fabrics?? to die for!

OH! I want to sit down!!!

Good day dears!!! I am normally crazy about anything that's sweet and romantic, soft colors and relaxed looks... the 'home' feel.... and I don't often find myself attracted to minimalist elements, but some designers / architects have done some amazing things, that even though they were done years ago, they still remain fresh and modern. I am a big fan of Arne Jacobsen's chairs, and the other day, checking out one of my favorite sites www.trendir.com, I found some truly beautiful examples of Jacobsen's fine work. Here is the Swan chair in one of its most beautiful presentations and bellow the Egg chair with a really funky twist. LOVE'em!!!

Okay, okay, down to business! I have to admit, I have a new obsession.... Rattan is a fabulous material of natural fibers that is soooo IN right now and gives any space an elegant yet relaxed look. I TOTALLY NEED THESE two chairs I found at http://www.rattandeguadalajara.com/ my new favorite store.
