John Robshaw revisited

I keep going back to cutie John Robshaw's website because I dont think there is another textile designer who's work makes my heart skip two beats everytime. There is so much love of Nature in his work, so much respect and freedom.

Guys, I had the craziest of dreams!

I was at a party, some sort of going-away party... when I turned around to grab my drink {true to form} and there was Lindsay Lohan right next to me, and SWEET-BABY-JESUS was she wrinkled!!!! then I turned the other way towards a small dance floor and there was Kim Kardashian {yeah, it was a bit of a nightmare...} kinda over-weight and wrinkled too!

Then... i went looking for a mirror and YES, you guessed it. I was pretty darn damaged myself. But then, i pulled out a Photo-shop brush out of my purse, and within minutes I was looking like a million bucks.

Now, let's see here... I am NOT consumed with how I look, I do love wearing cute little outfits and accesorizing, but this was just a STRANGE dream to say the least. I decided it was time for another "True Beauty" post. I did one a while back, because it is just BEYOND me how they abuse Photoshop in magazines today and by doing this, they totally HIDE a woman's true beauty. I did it before and I will do it again.

Let's see if you agree :)

In my opinion, the BEFORE is much better than the AFTER in all of these cases:

Before: Every-woman's curves?? HELL to the YES!!!

After: Yikes!....

When you have curves sometimes you have a little bit of extra skin here and there, and that's NORMAL... Kim Kardashian looks wayyyyy better BEFORE photoshop.

{they totally screwed up her skin tone}

Jessica Alba looks like the girl next door before photoshop.............. kinda mean and evil after!!! And dear lord, what did they do to her body!!!??? ugh.............

They were kind to Kate on this one... they didnt over do it. But still, I like the BEFORE better.

Madonna is too scary either way, but you get my point, right?????

Now, here are some facts.... found this great article on the sensitive subject...

Today's Royal Style Files features Princess Mette-Marit of Norway {thanks to a darling reader who recommended I check her out} Now, I am obsessed with this woman. You see, this is what she told her father one evening:

"I've just been taken home in a taxi... by the crown prince,"

AHA!!! and soon the two staggered people by moving in together for months without even announcing an engagement. {I tell ya, this is such a modern Fairy Tale!!!}

Suddenly Mette-Marit, who was known to have moved in circles where drugs were readily available, and who had a three-year-old son, Marius, by a man convicted of drug possession, found her past under fierce scrutiny. And many questioned the crown prince's choice of partner. {I know... people...}

When she and Haakon did get engaged some months after moving in together, Mette-Marit had to make radical adjustments before stepping out into the spotlight. Just on a superficial level, she had to look the part as she began to attend official functions, and one of her first trips was to New York to buy new clothes without the pressure of being photographed out shopping. Hey there lovelies!!! how are things??? had a nice weekend? Mine was pretty busy, i am throwing my son a little birthday party this weekend and I've been working on some goodie bags and a piñata!!! My camera broke, my son dropped in the pool about 2 weeks ago {sad face} but I will make sure I post pictures after the weekend, even if crappy blackberry photos.

Style that {Bookcase}

Today, a new feature here on PBT: Style that {insert what's being styled here}. Luvs it??? I do. Anyway. Yours truly is a firm believer in the premise that:

it's ALL about the stylin'

And, also... that what is good for business is good for people. And vice-versa. So I say you wanna approach styling with a plan, for the most part, and then leave the remaining 15% of the project to intuition and do what feels right with the finishing touches.

Ok, in the case of BOOKCASES, here are three examples of how it's done:

Plan: You stick to a style and be consistent (in this case, Classic & Preppy Chic).

Intuition: Create focal point by hanging something unexpected in the middle of the arrangement.

Plan: Be true to a color scheme and the texture as well as shape of the objects {the theme here is Coastal and carried to perfection}

Intuition: adjust the height of the objects in display by placing books underneath

Plan: arrange by color

Intuition: play with the books height to create a skyscraper effect!!!

Ok easier said than done. But practice makes perfect, right?????????

The Creffield house in London is very white but with incredible touches of vintage charm, the outdoors step right in, the natural light fills your senses, the antique beds, mirrors and paintings make for such a delightful contrast against the white.

First, this lovely area and that TO-DIE-FOR work of art of a mirror.

Oh the mirror..... HELLO lover!!! never seen a more dramatic foyer. wow.

Ceramic rabbits that is. (hear that, SATC fans?)............ anyway.... I am obsessed with the idea of owning a white ceramic bunny.

So, the other day while on Living ETC, a heavenly cyber-place where I can spend hours and not a single second wasted... as usual, I found so many pretty rooms I almost had to go breathe into a paper bag, but theeennn......found this. My least favorite room like EVER. I mean, c'mon.. really??????

What is your take on this room? Its ok to disagree with me though. Ok not really.

One of my favorite finds this week was an adorbz wedding via Green Wedding Shoes. They kill me, seriously, could this be ANY cuter???? Tons of colorful & vintage eye candy!

Mallory (the bride) and her mom, made almost EVERYTHING themselves, the stationery and the decor. I am in love with the playful Alice in Wonderland feel to this wedding, with the clocks and bunnies spread throughout.

So, a lovely little reader, asked what I would wear to a first date, naturally, I got workin' on this super pronto since creating outfits it's so much fun, I go in there and feel like I am in this huge closet full of designer goodies and yes THAT is my {and any sane person} idea of fun.

The outfit is for a casual first date, the only type of first date that should ever exist. One where you can wear something comfortable, regardless of your style. In my case J'adore mixing girly stuff and rock n' roll and ooobviously i love me a good pair of jeans.

Look, don't get me wrong, I love the Holidays just as much as the next blogger but sometimes I get the feeling early November is JUST too soon... {right starbucks?} .......... just sayin'.

Halloween and Thankgiving (super-duper fun Holidays we typically don't celebrate here in Mexico but in my house, trick-o-treatin' is mandatory and fully expected) anyway, every year they are more and more overshadowed by Christmas. I for starters do not acknowledge the Holidays until the weather changes and here in the Bay of Banderas we are still baking.

In search for inspiration and a MUCH needed attitude adjustment {since everyone else seems so flippin' merry}, I went to Desire to Inspire and I was not disappointed. Would you look at this INSANE Christmas decor????? I can't deal, it's too good!

I cannot wait to figure out a way to have my own pretty little nook in the house, here are the most amazing breakfast nooks you guys. My faves are 1, 2 and 4 {ok, all of them}.

1.- this one is pretty darn stunning. Masterful use of space, textures and natural light here.

just one question though.

who lives here? can I crash?

2.- Perfection. Like visiting your fave coffee shop!!

3.- Cottage style has never been my thing, but this little nook is making my knees weak!!!

4.- Ahhhhhhh........... the french bistro style........... for a romantic date in the kitchen.

To be fashionable you have to be fearless. There is no other way. Look at Carrie Bradshaw and there is always something crazy, unique, unexpected.

Of course ya'll already know that, and everybody has pretty much memorized Carrie's wardrobe so let's move on....

I'd totally just vandalize the closet of Miroslava Duma no problemo. Former editor for Harper's Bazaar (Russia) and now a freelance writer for numerous publications such as OK Magazinee (Russia), Tatler, Glamour (Russia), Miroslava is a true international fashion icon.

Alrighty, the clothes.

This Navy two-piece in all its geeky-chic glory is something I highly covet. Do not forget I have expressed my love for deep navy for Fall before.

There is some much fabulousness going on here I dont even know where to begin. The skirt, I believe to be the most important element in this outfit, it has structure and drama, it has its own personality (and I pretty darn fabulous one) Now, excuse me but just because I live in a boiling-hot place doesnt mean I dont appreciate a good-ole fur coat. (hopefully it's fake because I do care about my planet) but either way it's STUNNING. I am not gonna sit here and deny THAT having to breath into a paper bag.

Some of Miraslava's favourite designers include, Miu Miu, YSL, Lanvin, Alexander Wang and Prada. Here she is in a youthful lil number. My fave being the styling of the belt. Note to self: EXTRA long belts are ok. Just wrap them around! even if you take 1 hour in front of the mirror for the desired results, but whatever you do, it MUST look effortless. See?

I am having mixed feelings about this one. You see, the gray sweater is GLORIOUS, the overzised sleeves is any stylish woman's dream. However, what's happening in the chest area? them girls look a little sad!!! Wear a bra I say. Now, while the hair and make up are flawless, and I would almost trade my first-born for that bag, that mini skirt and those shoes would not have been my first option.

Still..................... I WILL most certainly take her entire closet Please.

Last week I posted about Leopard being the hotness for fall. Now would you look at those heels!!? Fierce is an understatement.

Two things have got me swooning, and THANK GOD. Because I always need some fuel on mondays!! gimme a good dose of amazing inspiration + a large latte and I am good to go!

This vignette, but most importantly, this amazing cocktail station just made my knees weak. And I have not even had a drink yet! I am IN LUVS with the arrangement, the symetry of the lamps and the layering. It's Amber Lewis's home {something tells me she and I could be besties} and found it here.

Prepare to swoon... this house is to die. D.I.E. I am experiencing major, MAJOR lifestyle lust here.

This is Carolina and Jack Bunce's home (via Martha Stewart). The Bunces are a young family that built their home in the little piece of heaven of Ojai, California. Their house is a Mediterranean-style villa and I couldnt be more in love. The views are insane, the open, warm and comfortable feel of every room is just brilliantly done and what a perfect place for thier son (Graham, 8) to grow up in!!! adorbs.

Definitely reminiscent of Tuscany. Check it out and try not to fall of your chair!!!

I love Yoga, have practiced it for more than 8 years, but always flat on a mat, in a nice quiet room. Apparently, you are not really cool for school until you do your practice somewhere real uncomfortable. You see, it started in the 70's with Bikram, in a room heated to 105°F (≈ 40.6°C) with a humidity of 40%........... and now here's this.

Imagine striking a warrior pose floating atop glittering waters -- Turns out, with the growing popularity of stand-up paddleboarding, people are taking one of the fastest growing sports and adding new twists -- literally.

It's called yoga boarding, and it basically takes the same paddleboards used in SUP and turns them into a yoga mat. Yoga boarding is now popping up on itineraries for Zen-seeking travelers everywhere who are looking for a laid back, calorie-burning experience.

"It’s actually a better workout than studio yoga because you have to be more precise with your movements,” says Eric Hiss of Kainalu XT, a multi-disciplinary water-based training business in Bora Bora, Tahiti.

Those with a good sense of balance and some core strength built from on-land yoga sessions will find that dropping to downward and upward dog, rising to bridge pose and even tackling crow pose while floating on the water are actually not as impossible to achieve as they sound. (Just a little wobbly and maybe initially a tad wet.)
